Yes. It's a piece of junk. I bought a de Longhi coffee/espresso maker and it never worked right, eventually not working at all. That is merely a very poor brand. Even Sunbeam would be better than de Longhi.

Yeah the heating element is shorting to ground.
You are going to need to call your appliance repairman for that one.
And if it is still under warranty call the dealer you bought it from first and have them send out an appliance repairman.

you need an electrician to check the wiring, it might be wired wrong, in any case it it dangerous and could cause a fire.
