You may be thinking of "inner tube".

That which looks like a tire is an innertube.

The amas refers to the arms and hulls of a trimaran. Catamaran pontoons are often called hulls.

The sponson is an out hanging deck on a ship at main deck level. It is usually the departure deck for enlisted men to leave or arrive.

I think the word you're looking for is SPONSON. The two hulls of a catamaran are called AMAS. Some rafts refer to their individual chambers as BLADDERS. A common material used is HYPALON. Another is reinforced and coated Polyester or Nylon fabric.
It won't be just rubber...too stretchy and not very abrasion or puncture resistant...you will always find a combination or textile(fabric reinforcing) and rubber or vinyl.
