It can be because it is a new beginning in a sense. I've heard that it only takes a short time for something to become a habit, so I could see a person using the new year as a chance to start a good habit like doing up the dishes every time or making the bed. I think psychologically it gives some people the push they need to try to improve their lives.

no cos its still the same life and your still gonna have those regrets from last year,but you can try and make you a better you.
