Seattle has a beautiful setting but the weather is kind of grim. It has loads of wonderful neighborhoods, it has really good restaurants (excellent actually) and a real good cultural life. The people seem friendly and energetic, they are better than average drivers and on the polite side, which I definitely appreciate. Of course you can find jerks anywhere, but for the most part the people of Seattle seem pretty cool--intelligent, friendly, liberal, polite...I like it there and the people have never been a problem. In fact they have been a bonus.

I like how people there don't really care too much about you. I mean that in a positive way, like they allow you to be yourself without getting in your business.
The diversity is great. You could walk down the streets of downtown and see every race, gay couples, families etc. There is no real image to live up to.
People tend to be in a hurry to get places and do things. In other words, the pace is naturally a bit faster there.
The weather, I have to say, sucks! When a sunny day comes, enjoy it because you really don't know when the next will come. Seattle in the sun is beautiful. It does rain quite a bit, especially in the fall and winter. As a woman, I hate being cold and having my hair messed up :o)
The traffic is getting more and more ridiculous by the day. The freeways were built for the population of 1970, not 2007!
There are a lot of beautiful places to be outdoors, tons of jobs, tons of activities, and good shopping (high end and thrift stores).
I love Seattle so much. I temporarily live in Yakima and cannot wait to go back!

Seattle is beautiful. Great weather year round- lots of rain and lush vegetation- never hot and disgusting. The people seem very smart, educated, and largely white or Asian. You don;t see alot of the ghetto crime and drive by shootings that most other big urban cities have, largely due to the makeup of the population there. The people in the city seem to be very liberal, open- minded and have a high appreciation of music and the arts. It is a wonderful place to be.

Love it, love them. I grew up there in the 60's and early 70's, and when I go back it still feels like home. (unlike L.A., which is where I was born; it smells like home (?) but it doesn't FEEL like home.)
