Perpendicular means at right angles to. When one lies opposite the other (as in sleeping) they'd be parallel to each other.

No--not unless one person is lying horizontally (or lengthwise)and the other vertically (or widthwise) in order to make a right angle to each other--one is lying across at the other person's feet.
If lying side by side, they are PARALLEL to each other (2 parallel lines do not cross or intertwine at any point)
