The dent is about the size of a fist. It is located in the space between the door and the taillight. It is rather high up on the car. It is not pushed in too deeply and there is no scratches. I have no idea how it got there. How much will this cost if I were to get it fixed?

It is hard to give you an appropriate estimate on repairing the dent without seeing it in person. If the dent is in the quarter panel, which is what I am assuming from your description, and it is in the middle or close to the middle of the panel, then it shouldn't be too bad due to the fact that the body shop may not have to blend the paint into the door or the trunk lid. Another item that would have to due with the price of repair is the color of the car. If it is a straight color like black, then you would not have to blend the paint. If it is some funky color, then it may be a problem color, or even a tri- coat, which would more than likely have to be blended. My best guess on a price would be somewhere in the ball park of $500. But again, that is without physically seeing it. Your best bet is to get a couple of estimates, compare the prices and go from there. But take a good look at the shop when you are there. Make sure it looks reputable, and that the staff seem competant. The lower price might look good, but when it's done, your car may not.

If the paint isn't broke you can call a dent repairman and he can take the dent out and you won't have to take it to a bodyshop, depending on the dent you can figure on $250 to $300 to fix it probably, call any new car dealership and ask them who they use for that repair if you can't find one in the phone book.

check your local schools, some have autobody courses and do great work for free so they can teach the kids...If not 100-300 pending on the dent.

Get a repair estimate from at least three autobody shops. You should have a good idea then.
