Would you rather live in a small town or a medium sized city? I currently live in a medium city but I want to move to a small town. I'm thinking about going to college in a smaller town any recommendations? Know of any good universities in a pretty small/cool town?
Thanks!!!!

I grew up in a small podunk town (Population 1,980) and I hated it. Full of narrow-minded hillbillies and nothing to do but get into trouble....no movie theater, no decent stores. It sucked the big one!!!

Now I am in a metro area of about 1,000,000 people (this includes the 'burbs and such) and it is SOOOOOOO much better.

If you like the sticks I say, have at it. But as for me and my family, we are citified. You would have to kill me before I moved back to a town like that. It was horrid!

As for schools that may appeal to you and your love of the small town, try Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Oregon.

I live in a medium sized city. It's more on the small end but it's growing a lot. I just moved from a small town. that was not for me at all! Not enough to do. The nearest mall was 35 minutes away, same for a decent movie theater and good restaurants. I'm talking 40 miles away. It was boring. I grew up in a city so small town life was not for me personally. But if you're talking about college, that's different. Usually small town colleges are good for partying if you're into that.

I prefer to live in a medium to large city. I was born and raised in Houston, TX and now live near Cincinnati, OH. I do not think I could live without all the amenities a medium to large city has to offer. It's peaceful out in the country and in small towns, but I'm a city gal at heart.

I live in New York City and would recommend that you go to a city instead of town. If you live in a town, everyone will know you and be all up in your business. If you mess up you will outcast. Remember you can't do any dirt, cuz everyone will know faster than you can imagine. In a city it is much easier to get lost in the crowd, and that's a good thing! Towns are better for people who want to retire, not for a young student.

I used to live in a small town and it can be really annoying. Everyone knows everyone and they all know each others business. You can't run an errand or go shopping with out running into a bunch of people you know and having to make small talk with all of them. I now live in a large city and I love being able to choose when I want to see my friends and family. It can be a good thing to be anonymous.

What part of the world do you live in. I also live in a medium sized city, I go to college in Brookline Mass though. I guess its a cool town, next to Boston butnot as busy and not as crowded, great trans. and restaurants.

Small town. But you'd need to travel 1/2 hr. or so to get to a college. Small towns dont have them. But everyone will get to know you and help you when needed.Groceries will be so near. I grew up in a small town and just loved it. Circumstances took me away.
