Yes; some easier than others. Obviously, the easiest to swap will be diseases that affect other mammals. The bird flu answer is not correct, by the way; the reason that H5N1 is so worrisome is that it is ferociously dangerous to us when it manages to infect humans and it seems very likely that it will manage to acquire good human-to-human infectivity before it loses its super-lethality. Then we get another 1918 world-wide disaster (or very possibly even worse).

Typically no. The reason is the difference in our chromzones. That is whay when Avian flu broke out, they were worried about the strain H5N1, That one ,because of past history could infect people.

yeah all of our worst diseases have come from live stock. we get it from living too close to large concentrations of live stock and eventually some mutation eventually allows the virus or bacteria to infect us. that is why native Americans were so decimated when Europeans came over to the new world. the Europeans had thousands of years of live stock originated disease that the natives had never been exposed to.

there are two types of disease - (1) contagious and (2) non-contagious.
former can spread from man to animals and vice versa. eg:anthrax, influenza etc.
latter will not spread from man to animals and vice versa.
eg:milk fever etc.

Yes - my dogs and I have traded head colds on several occasions...all it takes is a kiss from one of them, or for one of them to sneeze on me.
