Get a wrap/support/brace and wrap it around your ankle. You'll probably need it if you're planning on playing tomorrow.

If you're still in pain by tomorrow though... you might want to go to the doctor and see if there wasn't a slight fracture.

If there is a slight fracture the only thing that's ultimately going to heal it is time. Don't over-do it.....

RICE. Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. I just did the same thing 3 months ago on the tennis court. It's going to be about 4-6 weeks before you play on it again. The first 48 hours are very important. Compress and elevate your ankle for as long as you can.....you'll notice that the blood will move to a different place(toes or way above ankle) and that's a good thing. Stay off of it!!!!! Go get an x-ray to make sure it's not fractured or broke. Get a brace from the doc to put around your ankle-the brace will keep it from moving side to side. Sorry but no B-ball game. Take good care of it and don't try to recover to fast.

Nobody in thier right mind should be telling you to play on an injury. If you can still barely put any pressure on it, you will not be playing tomorrow. Keep icing it, 15 mins on, 15 mins off - don't over ice it - its not going to make it heal or anything, just keep the swelling down. Xrays would be a good idea, you can never tell if you broke anything by just looking at it or judging it by pain - a break can look just like a sprain, and you can walk on both. If you play on it, you are setting yourself up for an even worse injury, it's not worth it. Don't play unless you are cleared by a doctor, not your coach.

alright bud first things first. use PRICE. protection - protect the ankle, by wearing either a aircast, or wrapping and using crutches. rest - rest that ankle till your butt hurts so much from sitting down. ice - don't ice too much, just about 20 min every 3-4 hours. compression - wear like a bandage or something around it. your coach should have one. e - elevation. most important in the first 48 hrs. also use antiinflamatories like motrin, advil or ibuprofen. these will reduce swelling and such. i would not play in tomorrow's game, as you 'll have a higher chance of being injured, but if you really want to, plz follow these steps. also, i would wrap your ankle and ice it before the game. and for some ankle exercises i would go online and find some. just stretch out your calves and lower foot before you play. and try to wear an ankle brace which you can buy at a store for 15 - 20 bucks. its worth it trust me.

I would get an x-ray if its swollen and you are unable to put much pressure on it. It's better to be safe. Still you are doing about all you can do with icing, elevating and stay off of it. You could try some ibuprofen too just to decrease swelling. Hope that helps some :)

If you heard something pop, it could be that you have a hairline fracture or a pulled ligament. I don't think you should risk playing ball on that ankle, because if it is not a hairline fracture or a pulled ligament it could develop a cyst and damage it more. Your coach should have had you to see a doctor or seek some kind of medical attention.

Sounds like your coach is one brilliant physician. Tweaked it? It could be a sprain, strain, or break. How about seeing a real doctor instead of asking the brain surgeons here on Y! Answers?

Even if it doesn't hurt I don't think playing would be a good idea, you could just end up making it worse.
