okay I say go for it, but make sure you use a needle that has been disinfected bby putting it under a flame until it turns red on the tip, or buy the kind of earrings for piercing that have points on the ends of them. Chill his earlobes well with an ice cube, also mark them with a felt tip pen so you will know where to stick it. Make sure he uses alcohol on them every day and leaves the earring in for at least 4 weeks before removing it. I pierced my own ears and it was fine.

That's cool that he trusts you, but since it's going to be permanent he might want to think about consulting someone who specializes in ear piercings.

Do you have an autoclave at home? If not, go to a professional. Infections are ugly things to deal with.
