Ex. I'm sending my boyfriend's Christmas gift except he doesn't want it sent directly to his house. Can I send it to a post office near him with his name on the package where he could just go to the post office to pick it up?

P.S. I'm sending it by mail, not UPS or anything like that.

yes you send it general delivery and he should be able to pick it up as long as he has his id.

If he has something to hide, I guess you can. You have to tell the post office to hold the package for pick-up, he will have to sign for it also. You can go to the post office and give them the information so that they will hold your package. If not they will return to sender.
