So, you're giving away the dog? If not, I suggest not getting anything else. If you are, I'd say a rabbit. There are a couple things you must keep in mind before you get the adorable little fluffball, however: 1. Rabbits will destroy furniture, carpet, and lots of other stuff if not given the toys that they need (ie non-toxic wood, newspaper, paper bags, and I suggest tennis balls, although they aren't necessary). 2. Rabbits don't like to be held. Even if you've had them for years, it's instinct to fight back, and they can easily break their backs and legs if you aren't careful. So try to avoid picking them up, and just pet them. 3. Don't go with a cage, or they will be cooped up and sad. Give them a small pen (with HIGH bars) but let them out in a bunny-safe area to run around for at least an hour a day. Three or more if possible. You don't need to play with them this whole time, you can just sit on the floor in the area and do some work or reading or something, and when they feel like playing with you, they'll come over. Plus that play time, they should be petted and brushed for half an hour a day. (Once your rabbits trust you, a fun game to play with them is tag. Even if they don't completely understand what they are doing, it's good exercise.l Rabbits are actually fairly easy to care for once you get into the swing of things, and they can be quite playful once you get to know them. EDIT: One more thing: Do NOT keep rabbits outside! Lots of other animals come out at night, and even if my some stroke of luck they don't touch the rabbit, your poor bunny can die of heart attack. Not to mention they can freeze or burn in the winter and summer.

The Easiest?? I'd say Mexian Jumping Beans. Feeding, walking, and cleaning up after are not a requirement. Although they don't last long... still it's interesting to see the little buggers make the bean jump.
