It is a matter of taste and texture. Ripeness can also affect both aspects, but when made into a bread cake, the difference is minimal.
Though they are related, plantains are larger and starchier than bananas.
I prefer my bananas raw and my plantains cooked (fried).

I wouldn't think plantain would be as good...possibly...but I didn't know you could use it to make bread. I prefer banana.

Never had banana bread or plantain bread but I reckon that my banana cake would kick your banana breads butt.

Dude no. Because bananas are sweet. Plantains are a bit bitter to use in bread. They're better ripened, sliced and caramelized in butter... DUUUUDE.
