the reason i ask is because I had a friend who's mom was having a baby and my friend said " why don't we name her samantha" and her mom replied" and anem her that so she can grow up to be a slut/stripper?"

I'd name my kid it.

No, I've never thought of it as a particularly slutty or stripperish name. I guess it all depends on your frame of reference. Someone might get that from the character of Samantha from Sex and the City, or they might have known a Samantha who was a slut, but lets face it, sluts come with ALL SORTS of names and to paint every single person with that name as a slut is a gross generalization and very unfair.

Samantha is a very innocent, almost too innocent name. I think more along the lines of Kristy or Crystal as sl** names.

Wow, this is funny because I had a classmate named Samantha back in junior high school and she was called out as being fast (meaning sleeping around). Interesting!

i see nothing wrong with Samantha. It actually makes me think of Bewitched. If we were talking Candee or Destinee,or something like that,maybe, but what's wrong with Samantha? It's a pretty name and Sam is a cute nickname for a girl.

they prolly are think of the samantha from sex in the city--people should be over that show by the time the baby is older. i like the name and think it would be perfect for a sweet lil girl

My friends daughters name is samantha. Everyone calls her sam or sammy. I don't see where that name would be concidered a sl** name. I love it !
