In my state, the title 'Election Judge' applies to everyone that works at the polls. This is NEVER a full time position. (Even with special elections, you work no more than 4 days per year.) You can list this on a resume. Depending on what you are applying for, it may help.

The responsibilities include:
1. Setting up the polling place.
This includes setting up voting machines, posting signs, arranging the check-in table, etc.
2. Processing voters.
This includes checking voter ID, having them sign the poll book, and getting them set up on a voting machine or issuing a ballot and ensuring it is place in a ballot box.
3. Closing the polls.
This includes closing machines, removing signs, packing supplies, and posting precinct results.

One 'Presiding Judge from each precinct is responsible for picking up supplies from the BOE and returning the results.

In my county each Judge is required to attend a 2 hour class is required a few weeks before each election and is offered the chance to attend a practice session the weekend prior to the election.
