I should start my period in about 4-5 days. Tomorrows pill is my last "real" birth control pill before I start the last row that are the "inactive" pills. Is it true the closer to your period, the more dangerous and the higher chance of getting pregnant there is?

I agree that you can get pregnant any day of your cycle. However ovulation typically occurs 13-14 days after the start of your period. If you are taking the pill as prescribed, your chances of getting pregnant should be less than 1%.

It really depends on the type of birth control you're taking.

One kind of birth control makes your uterus a inhosiptable environment for an egg to implant (by making the lining of the uterus so that its always thickened), and another makes it so you don't ovulate.

Still, the chances are usually less than %1, but you CAN become pregnant during that time. It usually takes are 7 days for BC to become effective, which is why you're advised to use a back-up method if you're going to be sexually active when you first start taking it.
