I have a couple of friends who are models.

It's common knowledge that your career is over at 23. Both my friends have told me that most girls who model do it for the money. Rather than go to college right away, models will work for three or four years, save up well into the six figures, and then go on to college and get a degree.

Anyone who thinks modeling is glamorous is unbelievably naive. Every model I've ever met has said that they do it for the money for three to four years, and then walk away.....

People want to be a model because

1) It gives them good money.
2) They think that the title makes them look good. For example:

Person #1: Hey! So what do you do for a living?
Person #2: I'm a model.
Person #1: Wow! That's cool.

As you can see, saying that you are a model is way more interesting than saying you're an accountant or that you work at a bank.

Personally, I think being a model is not worth it.
Too much pressure, and what's the point? People only look at your picture for a second, and then look away. Who really takes the time to appreciate the art these days?

Because they desire starvation and not being able to eat all of the good food our earth has to offer. Because they want their lovers to feel their rib cage rather than their breasts. Don't get me wrong models are beautiful but in my opinion they are not healthy. The other thing to realize that true natural beauty isn't very common, so many of the people that desire to be like a model are looking for a job that pays well, give them fame and allows them to look good. Think about it though? How many people actually can fit the mold and stay there for a decade or so? There must be a lot of pressure in trying to be one. I would rather have a woman that accepts her imperfections and enjoys life.

The pay sucks. I've done it. Most are scraping around the bottom of the barrel. The rich celebrity ones are very rich- thats why the average pay looks good- everyone else is poor. Most only do it part time. I think people want to do it because it makes them feel attractive. It makes them feel good to tell toehr people they are a model, like it confirms their attractiveness. The truth is there's some pretty ugly models out there.

I think it depends on the person som e are in it for the moeny others fame. I would only do it if I got to keep the clothes I liked and the pay is just a bonus. As for agents picking you, than means your the best looking out of the say 200 "models" that wanted the job. I think that would give anyone a confidence boost.

My best friend Michael models because he wants to save his money to go to art school and buy fancy art supplies. He actually never was into the whole modeling business but he's good at it and he was offered a job so he thought, "what the heck" He doesnt want to be famous for his face whatsoever, he'd rather be famous for his art

I think because society pushes girls to believe that it's something they should aspire to. Take a look in any magazine targeted at teen girls and you will see a tonne of adds for modeling agencies and I remember when YM even had an entire monthly feature devoted to modelling. Of course, lots of people probably also believe that models make a lot of money, which is mostly not true.

i dont understand that either but i guess they wanna attract wealthy guys by exposing their extraordinarily thin bodies to which most guys are attracted. And also the model industries are well known as competitive field so i guess it also makes lots of money for those who eventually become famous models like celebrities .. they want money, cool guys and fame, that s about it

i suppose that each individual has a different goal in mind. money and being famous are most definitely at the top of the list...and it probably makes them feel beautiful and good about themselves. i wish these women would realize that they dont have to be so worried about their appearance all the time and be so willing to do things to be accepted and to feel good about themselves.

Well, easy money. And lots of fame. They want to be the center of attention. They think "hot" is stick thin with the most expensive clothes money can buy.
