I just got the part, and while I've been the lead in a couple other plays, I was wondering if anyone who has played Gabriella before had any specific advice for this rolse.

Why did someone give signfish a thumbs down for telling the girl to go for it? You people are crazy...

Anyhow, though I didn't play the role (I'm a bit 'mature' for Gabriella) one piece of advice is to remember that it's Gabriella and not you that falls for Troy, not the nerdy, stinky, possibly gay boy that they got to play Troy. I hope they get a good guy for you, but if not, carry breath mints, breath strips, anything to soften the blow of bad boy breath, etc. Or deal with it and take something after :-) I would go through the script and find key points. She's vulnerable. She's moved around a lot and finds herself at yet another school and even though she didn't want her old identity found out, of course Sharpay uncovers it. Find all those key points (they're fairly obvious) and you'll find her mood changes easily. She remains the girl everyone is rooting for so keep that in mind. Especially since when the kids plot, it's Gabriella who gets her feelings hurt by what the kids get Troy to say. Otherwise she's sugary sweet (toothache sweet) and of course she relunctantly sings like an angel... and at a party auddenly knows all the words to some song she was thrown into singing... BUT anyway! :-)
