.....the same way that you can give a thumbs up or a thumbs down to the answers?

Some of the questions are so bad and they are just pathetic attempts to gain attention. They are a waste of brain cells and a waste of time.

I think it would be good if a question gets like 10 thumbs down then it will be automatically deleted. That would help stop all the spammers and the ones that think they are sooooo cute.

I think that would make Yoo Hoo Answers a lot better. What do you think?

Jessica, This is a science forum here on the Astronomy and Space and there are quite a few of us here that are willing to answer legitimate questions from people. It is a pain in the pitudy having to fish through all the ridiculous questions like will a space helmet mess up Tracey's hair or clash with her lipstick as if anyone on the face of the planet gives a rats--you know what. If they want to be cutsie they can go to a chat site or another forum.

We already have a "thumbs up" in the form of a star. "Thumbs down" is an interesting concept, but you need to make sure the cure is not worse than the symptoms. The really obnoxious ones are, I suspect, deleted by the Y/A staff (although they may get carried away at times) - and you can always bring obvious violations to their attention. The simply annoying ones are difficult to separate from the few that are sincere but based on ignorance. Those are the ones that we really do want to answer. I am annoyed as much as anyone by spammers and trolls - but I don't like the idea of censorship via the tyranny of the majority.

I think that is an excellent idea, and if you had asked it in;
Home > Yahoo! Products > Yahoo! Answers,
I would give it a thumbs up (If one could) but as you asked it here, I would give it a thumbs down If I could.

If the question is obviously spam, report it as such.

Answering the really silly ones may be the only way that some people learn anything.

While I agree that some of the questions are pathetic, I don't understand why you have so much hatred towards them. It's not like you are being forced to read their entire question, or to answer it for that matter. Live and let live man.
