WebMD.com has some pretty good quizzes to try to help you to have some idea of what you might want to suggest to your doctor. I'm bipolar myself and was in and out of hospitals for a few years before I was properly diagnosed. I've been on my medications for about five years now, and I'm stable and able to function very well. I did the WebMD quiz on PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), and it came out that it suspected I had that too. When I took the results to my psychiatrist, she agreed that I probably did, too. Just check it out and see what you think. Plus, you can do research on all that on that particular website, too-- not just on mental stuff, but also on any other health problems that you or someone you know may need more info on. :-) Hope this helped! :-)

If you find websites that are filled with various advertisements, they are NOT legit - not only that, but they are extremely generalized and wide open to interpretation by anyone who reads them. I would NOT recommend ANY on line free "tests" to determine any kind of irregularity - mental or otherwise.
The ONLY way to find out IF you have any illness, is to seek out a highly recommended DOCTOR, and make an appointment.

Lots. try the following:
http://www.healthyplace.com/Communities/Depression/nimh/bipolar_screening_test.asp
http://www.psycheducation.org/depression/MDQ.htm
http://psychcentral.com/quizzes/bipolarquiz.htm
http://suicideandmentalhealthassociationinternational.org/bipolartest.html
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/02/070208131623.htm
and if you opt to take a test that figures whether you have any of several disorders:
http://www.4degreez.com/misc/personality_disorder_test.mv
Of course, as these sites themselves would tell you, none of this have a definitive say on whether you do have bipolar disorder. If they all agree on the affirmative, though, the best course would be to head to the local psychiatrist.
Unsolicited advice: if you really are manic-depressive, it's not the end of the world. You probably are even more creative- and gifted- than the normal human.
