Someone has offered to buy my jewellery online, but they want to send me an excess amount, that I am then supposed to forward some of to her son (i.e my jewellery costs $10, but she will send $20 then I forward $10 to her son). Aparently she also has her own shipper who will collect it - I said I will just post it to her recored delivery though. Can you suggest some secure payment and postage method so I can sort all this out? Thanks.

It's a scam - classical "Advance Fee" fraud.
They will tell you they already shipped (or about to ship) the package or will send you fake check/money order and will keep asking you to send $10, or whatever the actual amount is.

It is a scam. She'll send you a check for 20, but it won't be any good. The 10 gets back to her before you realize it is bad, and if she's lucky you send the jewelry too.

You will lose your jewellery plus the money you send to her "Son" and any cheque that you may receive will bounce.
Computer magazine letters and newspaper articles regularly feature this particular scam.
It is a lousy feeling, being ripped off. Hang on to your goods.

I read somewhere about people sending too much money and then the selling returning some of it, its bad! Think it happens when they send you a cheque and then they somehow cancel it once you have send them their 'change'

It is a well known Scam. You can turn it around by making sure you have the money first and have fun in doing so.But you must not part with the jewelry until you have cleared funds.

I would just suggest telling her you cannot do that.
I wouldn't if I were you...sounds fishy to me.
