Hi I am currently a student and I get money from my job as cash and I dont want the financial aid to know about it. So which bank I can have an account in without giving them my ssn? or how does it work?

None. The Patriot Act requires it. You could have your parents open the account and give you debit and check writing privileges.

Legally, NO use bank can open an account without a SSN or ITIN. In either case, hiding money from the financial aid office is FRAUD. Just above where you sign, look for the statement that "Under penalty of perjury, I swear the above information is true and complete." The wording may vary slightly, but the essence is there.

Jason: The rules predate the Patriot Act by more than a decade. Why do so many people blame the Patriot act for literally EVERYTHING. Has anyone blamed the Patriot Act for Kennedy's assasination yet?

Since 911 you can not open a bank account without supplying photo ID and you Soc Sec number.

Financial aid is going to know about this income after they look at your tax return for 2007...or are you planning to lie there too?

Fraud can get very expensive.
