The above is true for the citizens of the U.S., but what is the real truth? Bin Laden was trained by the CIA! He and his family often visited President Bush and his wife and thus, when there was Dead Air Space after 9/11 why then did President Bush fly out Bin Laden's family? One would think he would have kept them in the U.S. if it was truly Bin Laden doing all the dirty deeds. No one really knows the truth of this war and by the polls of the U.S. citizens there are more than half that don't trust the President. Bush entered this war on the pretence of "Weapons of Mass Distruction" but thus far has not shown any proof this ever existed.
I am also a firm believe that when ANY country has their own house in order then they can start racing around the world telling others how they should run their country. So far I don't see one country that is capable of doing that.

The quick answer is OIL. But the real truth is OIL currency exchange.
OPEC which is a LEGAL-CARTEL that sets majority of Oil prices. The U.S. over looks the fact it's illegall. In exchange for this overlooking OPEC agrees to set buy and sell oil in U.S. Dollars.
(If you don't belive the U.S. overlooks it's cartel ask the De Beers family of Diamonds) They cannot operate in the U.S. if they were to set foot here they would be arrested.
Why does that matter who cares what currency is used for the exchange.
So whats the Big DEAL right???
This is the really what the WAR is about.
Since currently worldwide oil sales are denominated in U.S. dollars, changes in the value of the dollar against other world currencies affect OPEC's decisions on how much oil to produce. For example, when the dollar falls relative to the other currencies, OPEC-member states receive smaller revenues in other currencies for their oil, causing substantial cuts in their purchasing power. After the introduction of the euro, pre-invasion Iraq decided it wanted to be paid for its oil in euros instead of US dollars causing OPEC to consider changing its oil exchange currency to euros, although after its conquest, the interim government imposed by the Bush administration reversed this policy, and the subsequent Iraq governments stuck to the US dollar.[18] Member states Iran[19] and Venezuela[20] have undergone similar shifts from the dollar to the euro.
So bottom line is Saddam hated AMERICA so much he BANNED the currency in his country. He also decided to buy and sell his oil in EUROs. Saddam made a TON of MONEY. So much he started to try and convince his fellow OIL Kings to dump the U.S. Currency in favor of the Euro.
Now remember when the war was being debated the Euro countries did not want to invade Iraq. But the U.S. and Britian did. Britiam does not use the Euro (even though the should) and the U.S. well you understand now.
This is one of the reasons Tony Blair is no longer Prime Minister, a lot of British people felt he was the U.S.'s lap dog. (I disagree the U.S. and Britian have a VERY strong alliance, and tend to back each other up in almost everything)
I.e. Falken Islands
If you look real carefully at the 2 country that switched to the EURO Iran and Venezuela both are considered a pain in the butt to the US.
Venzuela just had an election so watch the switch back to U.S. currency and Iran will receive sanctions or be invaded if they don't switch back.
The bigger problem in the U.S. is try to stop the falling dollar or watch more OPEC memebers be tempted to switch to the Euro.
I know it's alot but wikipeda OPEC and you can read more in detail on the economics on the OIL Exchange currency.
For fun do a yahoo or google on these 2 things.
us state department iran
us state department venzuela
Yummy look at all that oil.

The elder bush left Saddam in power during the first Gulf War. This was seen as a sign of weakness. All during the Clinton administration, Saddam stood in defiance of U.N. sanctions, because he knew the toothless Americans wouldn't do anything. When Jr. comes into office, he took the oppurtunity (faulty intelligence) to "finish what his father started". To assert the U.S.'s "authority". Purely political.

the civil war in iraq or The 19th century one?
In iraq, there are two branches of Islam, they are the Sunnis and the Shiat's. They are exactly the same except for one major believe. The Sunni's believed that abu bakr was to be the successor of Prophet muhammed (pbuh) but the Shiat's believe that someone else deserved the spot. Pretty much, George W Bush and his administration sparked a feud, largely by trying to push democracy in Iraq, therefore a leader had to be elected, and whether he was sunni or shiate was a big debate. I think that's what happened, but research online because i may not be correct

Saddam Hussein's unwillingness to compile with the last of many UN resolutions. Of course the UN doesn't have anything close to an army so they dial 1-800-USofA.
We had or own ax to grind with him. His idiotic handling of the war in Iran, his unwillingness to not invade Kuwait when we warned him off, his constant saber rattling as if he was anything more than a pissant dicatotor, and last but not least the credible information that he had tried to have George HW Bush assassinated. That alone was enough for us to go in and bust the place up.

Revisionist history textbook answer? To remove Saddam Hussein from power and find his "Weapons of Mass Distruction."
The truth? OIL - and lucrative contracts for companies like Haliburton that financed Bush and Cheney's campaign and don't think they aren't still reaping benefits.
It's all about stealing money from the American People (legally).
