i currently have my computer connected to virgin broadband 20mb package. the modem plugs into the computer through the network rj45 connector. i am thinking of getting a 2nd broadband connection, this time from o2, and their modem is wireless. i already have a 2nd network card that i installed which is wireless and not currently used. if i get the 2nd broadband connection (which is 16mb) and use the windows xp 'bridge network connections' option, will this combine both connections to create a 36mb broadband speed? thanks for any replies...

You need a dual WAN router in order to "honeypot" those connections to combine downstream and upstream bitrate transmission.

Normally you can only have 1 broadband connection going into a property (unless you have more than 1 physical phone line going into the property.)

However, if you have multiple lines, you could have multiple broadband connections and will find they will operate faster than a single. this is due to the fact you are able to receive multiple data packets at the same time.

(This is how broadband works in the first place, it still takes a similar amount of time for data to travel to and from your PC, but because you receive multiple data packets at the same time, you get more data in the same amount of time)

No. But it's very useful when one connection goes down and may improve connection speeds by a amount.

no. one is a fail safe. they wil combine but still only a certain amount of data will come at once because of wire limitations, wireless limitations, computer limitations etc. they wont match up perfectly, but will get a faster, more powerful connection

LOL!
They will still share the same telephone connection, wireless or not!
OK
Try this.....
Phone someone, and while you are connected, phone someone else.
Did it work?
No, try getting another telephone line put in, and try that.
