start with bringing in the garbage can...throw away what you want, and put the items you do want on your bed. Once you have everything out of there you don't want anymore, you can start organizing the things you do want.

I know this will sound hard. But you flat out need to get rid of stuff.

Throw out everything that's broken and give everything else that you haven't used in a year or so to charity. Do the same with all the things (toys, clothes, and baby books) that you've outgrown.

After you've cleared out space, install shelves to give you more storage. Move stuff around and clean it, then arrange everything where you want to keep it. Take everything that doesn't belong in your room out to where it does belong- such as dishes (which is something my nephew has a HUGE problem with, so don't think I'm picking on you).

After that, when you're done using a thing, put it back in its place. And if you get a new thing, get rid of something so your room won't get cluttered again.

Good luck!

You might have too many things, and too many clothes for your room. I used to have the same problem, and learned that if my room was disorganized, then my life was disorganized. It's not good "engery" to have clutter in your room. If you have any spare money, buy some shelving. I bought some from Target that is half size, and the shelves pull out. It allows me to to fold my shirts and sweaters and pants. I have a dresser in my closet that I put my pajamas, and lingerie and socks. I put my jewelry on top of the shelves on wooden plates you can find at this time of year, and little nails pounded in the wall for my necklaces. I have a plastic shoe holder hanging from hooks in my small closet. I always put my clothes away every night, and make sure all my shoes are put away, and dirty clothes in the hamper. There is nothing left on my floor before I go to bed. You have to learn to 'clean as you go.' Don't leave anything unfolded and on the floor before you go to bed. And, make your bed every day. You can buy a cover that just throws over your bed and pillows. Or, make your bed with the covers turned down so it's ready for you at night. Trade 'making beds' with someone else in your family. There is nothing like sleeping in a bed that someone else made!!!

If you can, put all your stuff outside for a while or if you live in a dorm room, in another room. Then throw away any trash or other junk in your room. If you room with someone, do it together, make them clean up too. Get out all the stuff under your bed and put in a pile and sort through it. Get some shelves, baskets, and storage baskets, etc. Sort through all your junk and divide it up. If it's all clothes then make shelves in your closet on the side and up top. Get a dresser if you need to. Do NOT put things in the corners. You'll get cockroaches, and fungus and other stuff!(it's happened to me) Good Luck! :)

Set goals. Clean little by little. Start by cleaning out your closet and all the spaces that are full. Then work your way around the room. If your room is as full as you discribed then it may take a couple days. good luck.

A good tip:

Go to Wal-Mart or any other store like that and buy those rubber boxes. They come in nice colors like white, blue, pink ect.. you might eveen be able to find something with drawers and like 3 layers. Then place some things in the first drawer and label "Junk" or something. Also.. go to Home Depot or something and buy maybe 2 plain drawers that would fit under your bed... you can put things in the drawers and then slide it under your bed! That would be the stuff that would be in a drawer. I know you said under your bed was full, but clear it out, and NEATLY place EVERYTHING in those drawers. You will be able to place more! Good luck!

I think you should rent a storage area near your neighborhood, so that way you don't have to throw away your favorite things, I used to have the same problem, now my apartment is SPOTLESS and there is no junk or clutter anywhere. Good Luck

You said it all. "I have a lot of stuff that I want". Just keep what you really need and get rid of old things. There are poor kids out there who would be thrilled to have your castoffs. Donate Donate Donate. You'll feel better and have some room to walk around.

Build some shelves or get a couple of those hanging wardrobes/shelves. That should help. You WILL have to clear out some of your clutter - no getting away from it.
