A BRAT diet will do.Banana,Rice,Apple and Tea.Then a lot of fluid intake and pls dont use gatorade for your grand son its not advisable to use gatorade to replace electrolytes coz it worsens the diarrhea...Gatorade has a lot of glucose that can make irritate more the intestines.so better if u use hydrosol to replace electrolytes

i think you can use the BRAT diet it stands for Bananas, rice, apples, toast. hope this helps avoid sugary juices allow the boy to drink as muck water as he wants to prevent dehydration. let it run it course because it is the body's way of clearing out something that is bothering it. it should only last a few days. if he stops drinking( eating is not that big a deal as long as he is keeping up with the fluids) or making urine or tears ( I'm not sure how old he is) or his mouth looks Dry then he should be seen by a dr. also over the counter electrolyte replacements( such as pedalyte, Gatorade) can be helpful. Good luck

Children can get very dehydrated when they have diarrhea, so fluids are very important--you want to replace the electrolytes. Have you determined why he has it? That's important, don't let it go for long.

Rice, bananas and very bland foods will help. Avoid things that will irritate or will make him go more.

In our case we drink activated charcoal. We mix it in juices or water. Also avoid fruits and vegetables that are rich in fiber like leafy vegetables, pineapple, papaya etc. banana is good so is apple. You should also make sure that he takes in a lot of water to replace the fluids lost. With my kids I give them gatorade to replace the other electrolytes lost with the diarrhea.
