Bonnie is the actual Scottish term for "pretty." ;) Not technically short for anything.
It could, however, be used as a nickname for Bonita, Bellona, Bethany, Bianca, Bronwen, Bryony or some other similar formal name, if one is desired. ;)

Ps. I do like Marie, but actually prefer another form (Mary, Maura, Moira, Mairenn, etc.). A fine name, but a bit too "filler middle name" for my taste, though I love the variants mentioned.
