Good question. A tax is money taken from people living in a country and is spent by the government as the governing body sees fit. Conservatives generally believe that people make better decisions with their own money, Liberals generally believe that the government can do a better job of spending a person's money. So, Liberals usually support higher taxes, and Conservatives support lower taxes.

You have your generic tax and spend liberal, and then you've got your common fiscal conservative.
The lib is an elitist. He/she believes that the government must enforce social justice in this nation. Since fate/God/evolution has been very unjust in the distribution of wealth, the lib mind supports wealth re-distribution as enforced by Big government. They tax you (take YOUR money), then THEY decide who deserves YOUR money. This explains their attitude of taxing everyone as much as possible, but especially the rich. Who are the rich?. Basicly anyone making more than $25,000 a year.
Conservatives want small government (remember, Bush is a liberal Republican, he fooled us) less taxes so the really rich have the cash so they can employ all the rest of us who work for our money.. Those that work get the money. Basically the way the real world has worked for the last 5,000 years. You are the one who desides how YOUR money is spent, not the so-called enlightened elites in congress.
There is your political bottom-line difference on taxes as they relate to politics.

Reagan raised taxes on the poor, he raised it from 10% to 15%. Republicans believe in cutting taxes for the rich and raising them for the poor.

Repubs don't want to pay taxes. That is how they relate. They like free war, low value with money, and something called splurge.
