An 18% pellet is for nursing does, kits(rabbits under 12 weeks) and rabbits that are shown alot. Also 18% is used for meat rabbits so that they grow faster and put on more muscle.

For pet, companion rabbits a 16% pellet is the best.
It should also be made of alfalfa or alfalfa meal as the main ingredient. Also make sure you are not overfeeding your rabbit. Pellets should be limited to 1/2C- 1 1/4 C per day depending on the breed. Smaller breeds need less larger breeds need more. If you "free" feed them they will become overweight and unhealthy. Also overweight rabbits are unable to breed.

Also you should not feed alfalfa hay to rabbits as too much protein can cause kidney failure in rabbits. A grass hay is the best for rabbits.

Make sure they have plenty of fresh water, a rabbit will not eat if it does not have water there to consume with it's pellets.

18% protien is too much for an adult bunny. It is OK for a young one (under 6 months) and does with kits. Otherwise 16% or less is ideal with 18% or more fibre. It should have a timothy base (not alfalfa). Oxbow makes a good timothy based pellet.
Pellets should not be the main part of the diet. Grass type hay should make up most of the diet. You usually don't need more than 1/2 cup of pellets per rabbit per day. I only feed 1/4 of a cup for my rabbits and they are between 3.5 and 4 pounds.

give the rabbit a bowl of pellets without dried fruit as it empties. the bulk of the diet should come from fresh leafy greens and timothy hay.
