Change the 2 1/2 to 5/2, and then multiply

3/4 x 5/2 =15/8, by multiplying across the numerator and denominator.
Reduce the 15/8 down to 1 7/8

Change the mixed fraction into an improper fraction. To do so, multiply the denominator with the whole number and add it to the numerator. then place that over the original denominator. so 2 1/2 = 2 * 2 + 1 = 5/2

so we have 3/4 * 5/2

Now multiply as you would, simplify and convert back to a mixed fraction if necessary.
