Chaucer, Canterbury Tales -- the Prioress, perhaps?

I should know this, I took Chaucer.
--EDIT-- But, it sounds like it's from a very loose "translation" -- is that the case here?

This is probably wrong, but it sounds like Marie from the short story "Clay" in the book "Dubliners" by James Joyce.
