Truth is, you CAN accomplish whatever you want without counseling. Most of the time, we're just so weak that we can't overcome anything by ourselves. But if you have the willpower and strength, you can accomplish anything--anything you set your mind to. And we as humans, can "just get over it", but only if we train our minds to. It's true that if we have some phobia, it just won't fade over time. Most people believe that they can't overcome it themselves, so they get the help of professionals.

Let's give us humans credit. We can and do effectively deal with many "trials and tribulations" in our lives--either by ourselves or by ourselves + our friends and family.
But at times, there are overwhelming emotions and events that we deal with the best by getting professional help. Maybe we could cope with these blows effectively, on our own, over a matter of months or years, but by getting help that recovery time might be shortened to a few weeks to a few months. And while we are unable to cope, we may be nearly incapacitated and very miserable, perhaps even suicidal. So why suffer for so long, when life can be happy, even joyous at times when we are coping well. And with lesser stresses, we may just benefit by talking to a professional, and we do that because we choose to, not because we must.
As far as why can't we just be strong enough...Everyone has a breaking point. We can handle a lot, but there is a point for some of us that we need help or we will become much worse. Everyone's breaking point is at a different level, depending on their psychological makeup. That's just our human nature. So before reaching that point, many people wisely get professional help.

"With God anything is possible", so it could be possible to get over something without counseling, but counseling gives a chance to vent problems.
It is NOT a sign of weakness. It is a sign you are human to want to talk and verbally work things out! There are many ways to get over something; counseling just happens to be one of many ways.
Sometimes the talking helps us get over things quicker. Counselors are trained so they make good listeners. A friend could listen, but might not know how to help you and advise you.
Try praying! God is a good listener! God knows His will for your life. A close walk with Him can renew your mind, refresh your soul and direct you to a wholesome, happy life!
Best wishes for a bright future!

It means that you simply need some coping skills to deal with your issues. Some people are equipped to handle a number of situations without counseling whereas others weren't.

i just think we need someone to talk and listen to us. we need to let out our feelings to someone who is neutral. someone who wont blame us or tell us we are wrong. we yearn for someone just to help us out in a time of need when we have no one else we think we can talk to and understand us. there isnt anything wrong with it. sometimes we just need someone to help us out because no one else can. they are good at their job and their trained to help people with problems.
