what is the highest octane gas you can buy for your car. I read somewhere you could get high octane gas from the airport, and my automotive teacher said he used to get 106 ocatne for his car.

I used to work at a small airport, and we had 100 octane low-lead avgas. Near that airport was a drag-racing track. We often had people come by and buy gas for their cars. The only stipulation was that they couldn't pump it directly into their car. They had to bring gas cans when they bought it.

The highest octane you can buy for your car at a gas station about 94 that I have seen here in the U.S. In the United Kingdom the oil company BP is currently trialling the public selling of the super-high octane petrolium BP Ultimate Unleaded 102, which as the name suggests, has an octane rating of RON 102. Although BP Ultimate Unleaded and Diesel are both widely available throughout the UK - with an octane rating of RON 97, BP Ultimate Unleaded 102 is (as of October 2007) only available throughout the UK in 10 filling stations. High-octane 102 petrol is the same as is used in the Formula One and World Rally Championship motor racing competitions, and is such being marketed especially those members of the public who drive high-performance cars.

There are higher octane gas, like the others have said, that is meant for race car driving (110 or higher).

You can buy racing fuel at most race tracks. They may or may not sell it to you, knowing you are going to put it in a passenger car.
It is not for Road Use, there is no Road Tax on racing fuel. Even though it is much more expensive. It is also dyed red so that it is easy to distinguish that it is "Not For Road Use".
The same would go for AVGAS that you could get at an airport.
If you are going to buy racing fuel for this purpose, take several five gallon cans. Don't just pull up to the pump in your street car.
The same is true of "Agricultural Diesel Fuel" There is no road tax. It is used for any off road or farm equipment.

Back in the 1970 that was true, look for someplace the sells "cam 2" racing fuel. It is 100 or more octane made by SUNOCO.

in my town, you can go to the airport's fuel supplier and buy fuel as high as like 110 octane

actually now that I'm thinking, i think 110 is a sorta low octane compared to the other stuff they use.
