of course there is a little truth or it would not have been said. It doesn't mean that they weren't kidding though. There is always a little truth behind every joke.

No that's ridiculous. The only truth behind it is that "I thought of something funny, and I wanted to say something funny, or I wanted to see if I could make you laugh. If you think that people are always having some hidden agenda, you're wrong. Sometimes we just like to have fun and be silly.
Lighten up, paranoid. Look I can't help if you you suspect that people weren't really just joking when they joked about your weight . . . .oh ho ho just kidding.
