McCain would get millions of Democrat Votes if the GOP ran him.

Would the GOP prefer losing than to back a Centrist with cross party support?

He is a good guy, in my opinion. But, I disagree with the thought he would pick up that much bi-partisan support. What he would pick up on the center-left he would lose on the far right. It would take the right running mate to put him over the top and I am not sure who that would be. Maybe a Huckabee or a Tancredo. Someone to hold on to some of that far right vote and not alienate the center-left.

I have respect for McCain for his service____but,
this is not the Vietnam war we are facing.
McCain needs to get in this day and age and what we are really fighting against.
We are not fighting a Country, we are fighing radical Islamic Muslims, that will just as soon cut our heads off as to look at us.As bad as McCain suffered as a POW, they actually showed him mercy compared to what a radical Islamic Muslim will show him if they ever get their hands on him.
Remeber Danial Pearl that was just a reporter and all the other men that they got their hands on, they really made them suffer before they cut their heads off, they mutilated their bodies while they were still alive. Yet, McCain wants these people to come under the Geneva Convention of no torture ie; waterboarding to get information to save the American people from their evil and deadly plans. A Country comes under the Gevena Convention, not radicals from differnt Countries that is not even certified soldiers.
In other words according to McCain it is alright what they do to us, and when I say us, when they do that to one of our people, they are actually doing it to all of us.
Also, you can see in any debate McCain has his way of thinking and will look down and show disguss if someone has a different thought.
McCain also, leans with the democrats when it comes to Illigal Imigrants and we are not just talking Mexicans here, we have all kinds of illigals that have come into this Country. Now is McCain for us (USA) or against us (USA) he seems to want mercy for the enemy that is capable of killing us and our families.
Just watch the news and see how the radical Islamic Muslims are killing their own people, even children, they are not just after Americans, they want to rule the whole world and make it under Muslim Religion Rule.
People please wake up and pay attention to what is really going on and don't just listen to what a politican is saying, hear what they are saying there is a difference. Remember it is you and your families lifes that are at stake here.

Because he will not be a puppet for them. He actually has a mind of his own. Not only that, but he has actually served in the military and knows all this crapola that they are using as reasons to torture are just that crap! They do not know the ramifications of their actions on the troops. They are unnecessarily putting our troops in jeopardy while ignoring our Constitution.

They just want another mindless puppet who they can control. They find people that are obsessed about "Hot Button" issues that inflame the masses (Abortion, Gay Rights, Immigration etc...) but in the long run are not that important, nor will they ever be solved. This way their puppet can run around talking to their mindless followers while the puppeteers are ruining the country to make a tidy profit for them and their big-business supporters!

As a Democrat I fear McCain most.

Giuliani is a fraud. I am licking my chops to have him run. Everything the Republicans said about Clinton is pale in comparison to Giuliani. HIS FORMER WIFE GOT A RESTRAINING ORDER AGAINST THE NEW SKANK. His kids dont talk to him. He didnt even go to their graduation.

Huckabee is a great person. But, the business class of the GOP will not support him because he has compassion for the down-trodden in life.

Romney will never fly with the evangelicals.

Sorry GOP - McCain is your only shot.

Check out McCains "Buddying" up with Kennedy on the immigration issue.
He is disgraceful to say the least... which is one good reason he is a Media Darling.
I respect his service greatly.
But his service and POW status are not enough qaulifications to get my Conservative vote.
Im more interested in voting for the best man for the job...even if he loses...
NOT a closet Liberal dressed up like a Republican.

Respect doesn’t equate voting for the person. I don’t vote for someone because she is a woman, I vote for that person because we share the same ideas and values. I respect McCain as a man, but he is too far left of center to win in the Republican primary. When will Democrats stop electing people based on identity politics and vote for someone because they share the same convictions.

Has nothing to do with McCain. It's his positions on things like amnesty and free speech.

Republicans even respect the wounds that Max "Butterfingers" Cleland suffered even if we don't respect his positions or the man himself.

I will give you that most of the liberals would feel comfortably numb with McCain.

I think it's because McCain is unpredictable and to some degree unstable.

Unfortunately, some people think he may have suffered some kind of brain damage during his time as a POW.
