I live in an apartment. In this area for this price I have a safe and rather large apartment . I don't have money to fix it up right now,I have old furniture and I decorate with thrift store finds. I feel blessed the way it is but if i start focusing on it I would like to roll this furniture out to the dumpster. I got the couch from an estate sale from a family of a lady that died. The chair has grape jelly and pee has happened there a couple of times from my little boy.

I bought an unconverted barn 12 years ago at auction for £31,500 and have converted it myself (well, 95%), doing all my own plumbing, electrics and building.

I live on my own so I have built the place on every selfish whim that I have. Amongst others, it has a sauna, a laboratory, a workshop, a massive hifi system with ceiling-mounted BBC monitoring speakers and a kitchen built to top catering spec.

I guess it's now worth 10 times what I paid for it and the conversion has cost me about £25,000, although I have no plans to sell.

The place has given me enormous pleasure. I have a little more work to do on it before it's finished and then I'll be lost.

My kids love it, each one scrambling to get it in my will!

it's okay but i would love to have an extension added so my son can have a time out room to himself as he has autism and needs extra space where there are no distractions for him or anything he can destroy like he does in his bedroom or anywhere in the house (on my 4th living room door this year !) when he is feeling frustrated and confused and then i could have a little bit of peace and quiet for more than 2 minutes and he would be a lot happier.

It's fine but I'd like to modernize and knock down the wall between the kitchen and diningroom and make it one huge room, cut the window into a sliding door to the huge deck I want to build that leads to the above ground Kayak pool that I would like to get! LOL

That would make it about perfect, except for maybe a hot-tub on the deck, maybe a glassed in porch enclosure for that.

At the moment it's a mess as we've had the Council renovating it whilst we lived in it. My bedroom and my son's have boxes galore every where. When the New Yr comes there will be plenty of decorating going on. Hopefully Christmas 2008 we will be sorted. loll

i have lived in this house for 18 years and i still haven't got it the way i want it...my kitchen floor is a mess, my landlord ripped up the boards to do some electrical work and never put it back properly...my living room needs a new floor too...when i was with my ex, his kids ruined my carpet and he didn't even to offer to buy me a new one, so it's rotten...my bedroom is cold and dull, it needs decorating in a nice warm colour, my bathroom is lovely...recently had it done up....so i think next year i will start decorating the place and make it my own again...

Your question jogs my memory of Jeff Bridges in "Starman" while he's utilising Karen Allen's Mustang all night jointly as she sleeps and he has been listening to her motor vehicle radio and after she wakes up, they're attempting to communicate. At one element he responds with, "I - can not - get - no...delight" and together with his trademark enormous goofy grin. I frequently experience like an alien on the planet trapped in a guy's physique.

NO NO NO we moved in it unfinished & of course now we'll NEVER finish not being pesimistic just realistic.

Funds have changed & Jobs have changed SO we have less money & less time to work on it & not even getting to the 3 kids thing and add that...

Hubbie & I are both addicted to Y!A so who wants to paint baseboards when you can Y!A??!!??
