I THINK T=9 &3/4

2007-12-28 11:04:07 · answer #1 · answered by P3RF3CTLY FLAW3D 4 · 0 4

(t-7)/4 = 11

First:

Cancel the fraction by multiplying 11 by 4

t-7 = 44

Then:

Move the 7 to the other side:

t = 51

should be 51 because u get the variable alone first by adding 7 to the negative 7 to cancel it out. you then have to add 7 to 11 because you added 7 to the negative 7 (you need to do it to both sidesof the equal sign). that leaves u w/ T divided by 4 equals 17. you multiply seventeen by 4 and u get 51. understand? Im only 13 and am not a geek. just learned this

To solve the equation use opposite opperations.

11 x 4 = 44
44 + 7 = 51

To check, substitute 51 instead of t:
(51- 7) /4 = 11

51 - 7 = 44
44 / 4 = 11

You have to get the "T" on one side of the equal sign and all the numbers on the other. So:
(t-7)/4=11
t-7=11 x 4
t-7=44
t=44+7
t=51

(t - 7)/4 = 11
(t - 7)/4 (* 4) = 11 (* 4) <---Multiply both sides by 4 to get rid of the division on the left, you're left with...
(t - 7 ) = 44
t - 7 (+7) = 44 (+7) <---Add 7 to each side to get rid of (- 7) on left, you're left with...
t = 51
Check work: (51 - 7)/4 = 11---> 44/4 = 11

multiply both sides by 4 to remove the denominator on the left side. Now you have t-7=44. Add 7 to both sides. t=51

All you have to do is:
1. multuply 4 to each side: 11X4=44
2. Now you have (t-7)=44
3. Add 7 to both sides: 44+7=51
4. Now you have t=51
Your answer is t=51

2007-12-28 11:05:26 · answer #8 · answered by Anonymous · 2 0

(t-7)/4=11
(t-7) = 11(4)
t-7 = 44
t=44+7
t=51

Tip: do the math in the parentheses last

If you multiply both sides by 4....... t-7=44.......then you add both sides by 7..you get t=51. Which is your answer.

multiply each side by 4 to cancel out the 4 and then add the 7 or isolate the t
