In all probability regcare deals with the registry and is not an anti virus software. You have to be careful downloading antiviral software.
If you purchased your machine from new the chances are that you have anti virus software already installed, but maybe you have omitted to register, or you have failed to update. Usually they jump up and down saying what a wonderful job they are doing.
The chances are you will have to pay a pretty penny, because they don't tend to sell cheap and cheerful anti virus programs with new machines. Otherwise a very useful means of getting hold of a reliable anti virus is from DVD free with a computer magazine. With luck you will come across a free one, or, if not then a recommended one with a free trial period. A DVD is a better security bet than a download, but are not absolutely safe.
If money is no object then you can waltz into the local computer store and buy antiviral software, usually complete with a years registration, and have a packet with all the bells and whistles
The first thing any antiviral program will do is clean the machine. If it fails ask for a refund and get another.

Sometimes anti-virus software can detect a trojan but it cannot remove it because it is running as a live process.
Therefore you may need to reboot and go into safe mode by pressing the F8 key when the computer is starting up. Safe mode prevents the trojan process from loading.
If your anti-virus programs still cannot remove the virus then you will have to do a Google search on the trojan name and find a forum where they will ask you to download a specific program that remove the trojan.

I strongly reccomend you go to a HijackThis website forum and register for assistance.
HijackThis forums assist users for free in ridding their systems from all types of malware. If you have a Dell PC, Dell forums has its own HijackThis forum, but you are not required to use the Dell site if you don't prefer too. It is only reccomended because the people there know Dell systems inside out. I am unsure if HP or Compaq, or other well known computer manufacturers also have a HijackThis forum for their systems too.
Here is a link to a search for HijackThis forums:
http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=HijackThis+forums&src=IE-SearchBox
Browse some of the forums and read posts until you find one you feel comfortable with. Once you do go ahead and register, as you must register in order to post your own question for help and then upload logs of the scans you will need to perform in order for an expert to tell you what to remove.
Do NOT attempt to use the HijackThis utility on your own. Many viable programs that you use everyday, or services your computer uses will be listed. If you delete any of these your computer may cease to function and you could be required to reinstall your OS.
Please remember that this is a process, and will take several days to complete. Also note that these people are all vollunteers and assist others on their own time, so be patient when waiting for the indiviidual working with you gets back to you. They try to be prompt but they help many people so it may be up to a day, and it could be less than an hour.
Your other option is to take your system to a reputable repair shop and pay to have them rid your system of malware. Also note that if you find one piece of malware you probbaly have more.
Good luck and much success ridding your system of malware, and please have a nice evening.

Try some of these. This is a list I have compiled of what I feel are the best free -anti-virus downloads. Notice they all say home edition but are all free and fully usable versions. When I use them together on my system it does an excellent job in keeping it clean.
Avast! Home Edition

AVG Free Edition

EAV Antivirus Suite Free Edition

Try a online antivirus scanner and a online anti-adware/malware/spyware scanner in safe mode with network to clean up your computer BEFORE you download anything. This because the program you download can get infected.
Disable "System Restore" for Windows Me and XP, then restart your PC to clean your system restore points for viruses, spyware, adware etc. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/en-us/management/sysrestore_faq.mspx
Now restart in safe mode.
To get in safe mode Press "F8" upon boot up.
Select "Safe mode with Network".
Go to Start - Run - type iexplore http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html Enter(ok).
Do a full scan of all your drives. If something is found, delete it, reboot and do the same again in safe mode with network.
When that scan does not find anything you reboot again in safe mode with network.
Go to Start - Run - type iexplore http://www.ewido.net/en/ Enter(ok).
Do a full scan of all your drives. If something is found, delete it, reboot and do the same again in safe mode with network.
**NOTE**: Do NOT do anything else with your computer when scanning. This because you can start virus/adware/spyware/malware manually.
When no one of these scanners are showing anything you can reboot back to normal mode.
Turn on "System Restore".
---------------
Antivirus: BitDefender Online scanner - will scan and remove threats.
Anti adware/spyware: Ewido Online Scanner - will scan and remove threats.
---------------
**NOTE**: Only have one antivirus program and one firewall installed on your computer.
Anti-adware/malware/spyware are ok to have more off.
