No fun at all. That is quite a load of problems, but the validation of your operating system can be fixed. You will need to locate the product key (that set of five sets of five numbers and letters) that came with your original operating system. That set of numbers and letters is in your computer and there is a free download program called MagicJellyBean Keyfinder.exe which will find those numbers for you. Download that free keyfinder and get the numbers to your operating system and write them down. Then go to your Search Bar and type something like "Microsoft OPS Validation?" And when that comes up, somehow it will connect with that set of numbers and letters which MagicJellyBean Keyfinder.exe has found for you and presto! That little blue star in your system tray down at the bottom of your desktop will go away and that message which keeps popping up telling you that you might be running a pirated copy of your operating system will also fortunately disappear.

I have issues with Norton. I would have you remove all of it from your computer and boot up again. You might want to use a really good FREE security system to protect your computer (which uses the Windows Firewall also) that is called AVG 7.5 (or the most current, free version, just type AVG free version into your Search Bar and click "Go") But you should remove all of the Norton stuff first before you download that free version of AVG. There is really only one way to grab all that Norton stuff out of your computer - which will get ALL of it, and that is to Download and use the Norton Uninstaller. You can find that on the Internet as well. I wish I could help you with your other issues, but just losing that pop-up notice that keeps telling you your operating system is probably not valid will be a big relief. Fixing the Norton by replacing it with the AVG 7.5 free download will probably fix a lot of other things, too. Read the other answers you are getting here and work with the ones that make sense to you. I apologize that I can't give you any more help than this, but I don't want to confuse you by offering too much all at once.

I'd say you have a virus which Norton hasn't detected or the virus has corrupted Norton.

Suggest you format hard drive and re-install Windows. If you can download as much of your stuff as you can onto a flash drive or separate HD.

Depending on what Windows version you have you might be able to go into setup to reinstall. At startup flashscreen keeping tapping F10 while holding done CTRL key. If this works it will take you to setup. If not you need the O/S disk to reinstall..

This sounds like a problem i had befor i reinstalled the whole XP os again. Once you mess with the system registry your pretty well screwed, they say that stuff works but sadly it did'nt work for me either. The problems were so bad i just done a compleate uninstall and then reinstalled Xp again and no more problems.
I'm now useing windows Vista but i am ready to go back to xp becase the world is'nt ready for Vista.
Good luck

Perhaps your copy of windows isn't genuine. The only way is to back up all the data and restore your hard drive to it's original condition, reimaging or reinstalling.

if it says your copy of windows isnt genuine and probably when you start your computer (if your using "users") you will get something that says resolve the problem now or wait 5seconds to resolve later

if you get that it means that you have a pirated edition of windows (I have that to but you can get the license for windows with torrents .search here http://www.thepiratebay.org) or you can contact the shop where you bought your copy of windows
