In which way do you want to live in the 1940s? Should we be as moral as they were? watch the same moral movies as they did? Be better citizens as they were? Yes. But washing clothes in rickety old washing mashines and drying them by hand? Uhuh.

And open up the bread lines? Are you up on history at all in this country? We suffered a depression, the stock market fell, and children were living in the streets on there own. We had orphanages that housed thousands of children then, and abortions were done in allies, sometimes right in front of a strangers face. The mobsters were killing each other in main downtown areas and the police were easily bought by them. No, I don't want to go back. Poor in this country was far more real than today, and the wealthy were far too rich then.

I think we started the 40's in a economic depression and then World War 2. I wouldn't want to go back to that.

If we did, we would soon be taken over by a first world country, because we would have stepped back into time and become a third world country overnight. Other countries would want the resourses we have, and we would be invaded and taken over......But the concept has great merit for thought and idea fodder.

There is no way back. To do it we have again to go through the whole process with slavery and civil war to the origin when this great country was born and built.

Wagesand all are relative to the times. The only thing is that we didn't have the technology we have now, and I wouldn't be writing the answer to your question. Also I wouldn't have to deal with George Bush.I would rather live in the now.
