for some it is not that hard, for others it is impossible. my parents were never impressed with anything I did, if I won state level they would say "you didn't win nationals" or something like that. it does not matter what I do my parents are never pleased.
for others, like my best friend, all he has to do is get up and try, win or loose his parents are always proud of him.

Teens have to respect both their parents wishes and ideals providing that their expectations are not too high.
The benchmark is are the expectations reasonable example are they trying to 1: protect you 2: teach responsibility's 3: want you to achieve goals that you can reach.
Sometimes parents can be over protective and if this is happening I suggest that you observe their rules, then as the trust develops talk about why you feel these rules etc need to be compromised. Remember that being a teen is only a short part of your life ( 6 ) years, when you leave your teen's behind there is a lot more to life.

Always be honest with them. Even if it seems easier to lie to them, the lie will always come right back and make things worse than you wanted. Be more responsible. Take out the garbage without them asking you 150 times. Bring your homework in on time. Study for tests more. Get along with your siblings. Ask your Mom if you she needs any help with making dinner or your Dad if he wants help with cleaning the car or the garage. That's just a few things there's a whole lot more but I won't drone on. ;D
I hope you have some luck with this!

My teen could gain my trust by never lying to me. If you do something stupid or wrong, just admit it. No matter how awful the transgression, it will never be worse than lying to me. I mean that completely. If you lie to me, I'll never trust you again, whicho would be a terrible loss for both of us.

By doing everything they ask and being respectful. For example, if they tell you to come home by 12, come home at 11 instead. Do the dishes without asking every once in a while. Get good grades. Ask them how work went for them.
