I'm having project difficulties, & I was wondering if you have any information supporting the idea that America provoked Japan into starting the Pearl Harbor Attack.
It would be good if you could try to give good sources, or just directly type some good information that supports it.
Any help is appreciated... thanks! :]

Ok well basically, Japan was expanding at a rapid rate. They had taken over areas such as Vietnam, Indonesia, etc.. When they began to expand into U.S. territories, America put their foot down. Companies like Dole and Coca Cola were starting to fear that Japan would take over, so the U.S. decided to step in the way of Japan's expansion. So basically the U.S. was the only nation standing in the way of Japan's expansion. So we didn't exactly provoke them, we just posed a threat to them.
Another interesting thing, if Japan never bombed Pearl Harbor, the Axis probably would have won the war. Hitler wanted nothing to do with America because he knew that if America entered the war, the Axis powers would be easily defeated due to the fact they would have to fight a war on two fronts. So Germany would have never given the U.S. a reason to join the war, it was Japan that screwed up on that part.

I’ve been studying Pearl Harbor for more than 25 years. Lately there is a ‘movement’ to blame the US for ‘forcing’ Japan into attacking. These ‘theories’ are just that, theories. My studying has led me to believe that the attack, more accurately the war, would’ve occurred no matter what.
Since the last part of the 1890s both Japan and the USA were expanding Colonial powers. The area that the two countries were expanding into, the Pacific, it became only a matter of time before war would occur.
The theory that the USA forced Japan into war centers on oil and the fact that the USA embargoed it. These people who say this generally have done little or no studying on the subject. They ignore the deeper issues that really lie at the heart for why the war started. In a way many of the same factors involved in WW1 were at work for the Pacific war of WW2. Nationalism, Colonialism, Militarism, and economics all played a bigger part than one item that was embargoed.
*edit*
To the first poster, Beth, that 'film' (I use the word loosely), is one of the worst pieces of 'evidence' I've ever watched. I've never been able to watch more than a few minutes before turning it off in disgust at the completely wrong facts it gives. It is, however, a perfect example of how people take real facts, twist it until it says what the author wants.

Japan attacked the USA, why do you need to think Japan was provoked. They where attacking everything in the south pacific, killing prisoners outright. Killing thousand of Chinese civilians too.
Ummm, we provoked them to attack the USA without declaring war, cowardice to the extreme. No honor at all.
