Shouldn't we also care about our own country too? what about the poor cities and the homeless people here?

It makes me sad seeing the homeless people in L.A. and Oakland, and other cities? What should we do to take care of our people first? They deserve a home, food, and health care too.

Yes I agree. The only veto the Congress was able to over ride was to help the New Orleans Katrina victims. Other social agency's have had their budgets cut repeatedly leaving little financing to help the homeless and poor.
Predatory mortgage lenders-record breaking numbers of foreclosures-budgets to the Social Service Agencies (including job placement assistance) being slashed to fund a war. It is no longer just a few anymore. It is parents with children, the elderly, the under served Vietnam war veterans, the mildly mentally ill. A crappy economy-illegals who work for no benefits and low pay ..., jobs being outsourced to other countries....
Higher percentage of taxes taken from the middle class (33%) and lower for the wealthy (18%) for the "Trickle Down" economy scheme. Sky rocketing fuel prices resulting in higher priced nessesities of food, heat, est.
I volunteered 100 hours at an agency called M.E.N.D. (Meet Each Need with Dignity).

Gosh, you are my hero - thanks for asking a question that we as individuals, as well as our government, should be asking! Physician heal thyself...charity begins at HOME...etc. Then take care of the other folks who love to hate U.S. so...
