I've read about using the iron, and using either a brown paper sack, a paper towel, or a newspaper. My problem is, I am out of all of these products! The wax has been on the carpet now for an hour, and I won't be able to get it cleaned until Sat night or Sunday. It is a light pink wax on a beige carpet. I know it may be best to get it out right away, but I don't have a choice right now, as I have to leave on a trip. Will it come out 24-48 hours later?

I had better luck with an iron and an old towel. It can hold more wax than paper.

I have already used ice cubes to harden the wax and make it brittle, then use you're fingernail or the edge of a pancake turner and gently chip as much of the wax out as possible without damaging the carpet. Sometimes a good grease cutting dye free detergent will remove the rest.

Once the candle wax has been set it will be fine until you get back to it. You can pick out all of the pieces that are manageable to eliminate more work when you do have paper towels ect. to use.
