I had to laugh at this one in a good way! Maybe it works by repulsing the baby from wanting to go anywhere near you and giving your tender areas a rest! I'll save this one for my near future! lol

Putting cold cabbage leaves on your breasts helps to soothe them when they are sore and engorged, for instance when your milk comes in. Im not sure if its so much the cabbage as the coolness and the cabbage is a great shape and size to cover sore breasts. Also you can soak a disposable nappy in water and put it in the freezer to use for the same purpose. It fits nicely. haha. Also for cracked niplpes you should use 100% lanolin cream. If its 100% lanolin then you dont need to wash it off when breastfeeding. If your nipples to get sore you should try wearing a niplpe shield. Even for just 24 hours whilst they heal. It works wonders! Good Luck!

no that's not true putting cabbage on your nipples will dry up your milk supply instead try putting breast milk and let it dry on your nipple before putting bra on

That's funny, I just read that in a parenting magazine at the doctor's office yesterday, so I would have to say yes though I don't have first hand experience :)

There's some cream you can get- it's got lanolin in it I think. I used it when I was breastfeeding. My lactation consultant recommended it- if the hospital where you delivered has a lactation consultant, give her a call- she may know the name of some cream.
