Tax payers are paying for Muslim foot baths in public schools, but Christians can't pray or mention Christmas.(1st and 2nd link) Calif. has a bill that would ban using the words "mom, dad, husband, wife" because they may offend gay people, and they are allowing boys and girls to use each others bathrooms and locker rooms. It's not difficult to research, I found lists of schools who allow prayer time, who used tax dollars to pay for Muslim baths. Try it

People tend to think that Muslim's, gays and ethnic minorities get the worst criticism, however if you look around the word Christian, Christ, God, Christmas, Prayer, etc. are the most forbiden names in the eye of the public and the majority of the general population. Everyone accomodates everything but Christian beliefs and values. Go figure ; ) We need to stand up for what is right and not for what may offend who or who is not going to get voted back into office if they make the "wrong desicion". People need to get a backbone and stand up for what they believe, not they think others might believe.

The article starts off with blatant lies and half truths: "That’s right, if you are a Muslim you can pray in school, if you are Christian, you can’t even say the word Christmas." Total bull.

Anyone can pray in school. The supreme court banned pray BY the school. The school can not start the day by forcing everyone to say a Christian prayer. You however can sit at you desk all day and pray all you want.

Again, a student can say Christmas all they want. The school can not legally celebrate Christmas, it is a Christian holiday. That would ESTABLISH Christianity. That violates the first amendment.

I do know about the possibility of Muslim foot baths, but that is not a certainty yet. It is just in the works. And even if it goes through, Muslims wouldn't be the only ones allowed to use it. Everyone who wants to could use it.

Secondly, Christians are allowed to pray in school and to mention Christmas. Just not during classtime, it has to be done on personal time. The same requirement is placed on all religions. And the school is not allowed to hold prayer for classes or school related extracurriculars, for any religion. Would you want a Muslim praying for you or your kids? How about a Jew who doesn't believe in Jesus? How about an Atheist who doesn't believe in God at all? Would you want any of these praying for you or your kids?

I would assume no, so why would you think they would want you to pray for them? You believe in a different God, or rather the same God but different ideas about Him (Christians, Muslims, and Jews believe in the same God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob).

And there is no public school that would allow same sex bathrooms or locker rooms, there would be way too many complaints from everyone.

You must be very careful about trusting religious leaders. Beliefs are good and most followers of any religion are good. But the leaders of all religions can be dangerous, they like to misrepresent things to trick the followers into giving them power when they attack the misrepresentation. Your church newsletter here has severely misrepresented the situation, and that can only lead to further segregation of humanity.

Add-on: as part of the Muslim foot bath situation. The school is prevented from stopping Muslims (and Christians) from praying as long as it is done without the school's involvement. Part of Muslim belief is that they must be clean before entreating God, so they are required to wash their feet, hands, and face.

This idea came about because the Muslims were attempting to wash in the locker room shower, but it was too far away from the classes and they were late to class. Attempts to mark them as tardy were met with threats of lawsuits because it might be used as an attempt to prevent the Muslims from praying when they were trying to follow the rules.

Some Muslims tried to handle this situation by washing in the bathroom sinks. It was acceptable as part of the religion, but many other students were complaining that they had to wash their hands in the same sink the Muslims were using to wash their feet, and they thought it would be unsanitary to do so.

The Muslim foot baths are an attempt to compromise. That way, they can continue to follow God in their way; but you would not have to wash your hands in the same sink they were washing their feet in. It's a good idea. It follows the law and the First Amendment, and it allows for more sanitary conditions for everyone.
