brown dischage instead of period?

i was due my period about a week ago but instead i got a brown discharge which i've had for about 9 days
i'm 16 and i'm a virgin although i have been down on my boyfriend and he's fingered me
is this just my period? is this normal? or should i be worried?

please help!

Brown discharge which is just old blood can be the start of the period but I would recommend letting your mom know as well so that she can help you keep an eye on this situation.
