I'd rather swim in a pool. I don't like things nibbling at my toes . . . at least things that are not human!

A pool. I don't like the fact that some critter could eat me in a lake, river or ocean. I am scared to death of snakes as well. I have been swimming in natural pools of water but I don't like to.

Probably a lake, a pool usually has too many kids, or people swimming laps. The ocean is too cold. and a river may be too swift of a current.

Had a fabulous swim a few years ago, we did a few days stop-over in Fiji on our way back to the UK, after spending Christmas and New Year with my oldest friends in NZ.
We walked for what seemed like miles crossing a couple of small rivers and through some wooded areas and came to a pool which was fed by a waterfall. Striped off and went for a swim. It was so lovely and cool and felt like a "You Tarzan; me Jane" film take!
That beat any chlorinated swimming pool!

I like this question, but I find it hard to reply to it. When I was a child, I was sure I prefered the sea. Then there came a time in which I prefered swimming pools. Now, I don't know. I like both, depending on their quality...

I am like Pat where I only want to swim in a pool. As a kid, we used to swim in the river, and the ex and I lived along a reservoir, so I even swam there. But, I have watched too many movies and had too many unexplained things bump into me under water.

I've never been much for swimming but I enjoy floating on noodles in my backyard pool. It's small but refreshing. I used to go in a river when I was a child but as I got older I quit because of the "things " lurking under the surface.

I've never cared for swimming in public pools [or private ones]. I like lakes, rivers, streams for doing what swimming I do. Particularly warm or hot springs.
