manny is the best hitter and player. he is a hitting machine avg, power. especially with two strikes i would choose manny better than any other player.
and for those that says that manny is a lazy player. all i have to say to those people is to find out who is one of the first player to get to the clubhouse everyday, whos the one that watch all those videos day in and day out. thats manny. just ask the redsox coaching staff...plus just in case when this guy was like 15 years old playin in george washington high school in nyc hi use to wake up alone like around 5 am, tide a car wheel on his back and start running on the park goin up and down. now thats a working hard for what he loves. not for anything but if anybody thinks that thats lazy than their ignorant...oh and yes his my favorite player.

Better hitter- Manny. Vlad has only 3 seasons with an OPS greater than 1, Manny has 7 such seasons. There was a time where .325/.410/.620 was merely an average year for Manny in his prime.
Better overall, as in hitting, fielding, and baserunning- Guerrero. He has speed (he had a 40 steal season several years ago. Does Manny even have 40 steals in his career?) and he more than adequately plays a more demanding defensive position. Manny's a terrible defensive player.

Vlad Guerrero is a extra useful all around participant as he's a severe-high quality expertise interior the sphere(spectacular throwing arm). the two gamers are surprising hitters. the two have outstanding batting stats. RAMIREZ- sixteen seasons- 527 HR 1725 RBI .314 BA 1444 R GUERRERO 13 seasons 392 HR 1268 RBI .323 BA 1126 R ....and the Mets surpassed on an threat to sign Vlad.

At this point it's Vlad. They are both hall of famers. Vlad has always been a better fielder and hit .324 and .329 the past two years. Manny hasn't hit above .321 since 2003. Vlad also had seven more homers and 37 more RBI than Manny last year, and it doesn't seem Manny can play much more than 130 games a regular season anymore. Vlad also has more speed on the basepaths with 13+ SBs 3 of the last 4 years. Manny hasn't stolen a base since 2005.

As a hitter, Manny has a higher OBP and OPS+. Vlad may have a higher average, but Manny more than makes up for that by drawing about 70% more walks.
Overall, it's a tough call. Manny's a great hitter, but Vlad is the better defender. I'd happily take either one on my team.

Good question...Manny is a slightly better bat, he is more explosive and I'd say more clutch. Vlad has a better arm (I Know Manny has more outfield assists, but that's because he plays in Fenway). Vlad also is injury prone, but he doesn't carry the baggage Manny does. If I had to choose, I'd take Manny though as a player in general. I'd rather have his bat in my lineup. And they are basically comparable as players in general. Manny is plenty good enough though to take over Vlad. Both amazing though...(And I'm a Yankees fan-but Manny is awesome).

Manny is one of the greatest right-handed power hitters of all time. You simply have to peruse his stats and see where he is ranked in all the important offensive categories. He is an average defensive outfielder with an above average arm, which makes LF at Fenway Park the ideal spot for him. He is more of a defensive liability in bigger ballparks.
Vladimir is an excellent defensive outfielder. Good speed, good glove, great arm. And although he is a dangerous power hitter, he is so undisciplned at the plate and rarely walks that he isn't nearly the offensive presence he could be.
Ramirez has two World Series rings. Vlad has none. Manny is the better hitter and player at this point in time.

Vlad hasn't been in the league as long so offensive numbers are better for Manny. However, I think Vlad is a better overall player. Power numbers aren't as good but defense is better and usually is one of the leaders in outfield assists. He also has more speed on the basepaths. Besides, he can hit just about any pitch from his shoetops to his eyes.
