you have to enable wireless on the router.
i think you have a linksys router. if you don't then you need a router.
the router should be connected to the internet port of the broadband modem with an ethernet cord. then your computer should be connected to the router with another ethernet cord. most wireless wireless have 2 or 4 wired ports on back.
now on the wired computer open a webpage. enter http://192.168.1.1
leave username blank. the password is admin.
go to the wireless or wlan tab. enable wireless. i also suggest enable wpa encryption. enter a password for the wpa.
also while you're in the router's settings, change the admin password from admin to something unique. also, change the ssid from linksys to something unique.
no go to a wireless device such as the laptop and find your ssid among the available wireless signals. enter your wpa password.

I'd suggest that you go to the Control Panel and then to Network and Internet Connections and then right click on your connection and choose Repair.

If that doesn't work, I'd suggest that you try to reset your router by unplugging it for fifteen seconds or so and then plugging it back in.

Good luck and I hope I helped!
